THE CONVEYANCING PROCESS

There are two main stages in the Conveyancing process: Exchange of Contracts and Completion. These two processes ensure that no money or keys are exchanged until exact terms are agreed between parties.

In Preparation & Exchange of Contracts

Before Exchange of contracts there are checks, searches and enquiries made on the house you are selling/purchasing. Once these preliminary assessments are complete, exchange of contracts can be done. This will take place shortly after you have signed the contract. Once you have exchanged contracts you will be committed to moving house. You will then be given a completion date. You can now make arrangements for your home: Contact the Electricity, Gas, Water & Telephone Companies for transfer of services and the Local Authority for Council Tax liability and notify all parties

Completion

On the completion day, all monies will be transferred away from your old property, and then transferred to the one purchased. You will then receive the keys to your new property.
